J. Barrett Shipp
J. Barrett Shipp was born in Dallas and was raised in Athens, Texas—the oldest of six children. He received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science at Oklahoma State University and earned his law degree at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio. While at St. Mary’s, he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta; Vice-Chair of The Board of Advocates; and a staff writer for The Scholar: St. Mary’s Law Review on Minority Issues.
Barrett was previously in private practice and then served as a felony appellate prosecutor in the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. His practice at Heinrichs & De Gennaro is directed at probate and fiduciary litigation.
Barrett is a member of the San Antonio Young Lawyers Association and the San Antonio Bar Association. He was named as one of San Antonio's Rising Stars in 2011 in SA Scene magazine. He lives in Alamo Heights with his wife, Mo, and their miniature schnauzer, Sgt. Pepper. He enjoys playing guitar and bass with his musician friends in and around San Antonio.
