Chris Heinrichs
Chris Heinrichs was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but he made it to Texas as fast as he could (age 4), considering he had to depend on his parents to drive. He founded the firm after partnering for years in two other prominent San Antonio firms. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1971. In 1975 he graduated from St. Mary's University School of Law where he was an editor of the St. Mary's Law Journal, and received the James P. Lytton Award, presented by the faculty of the law school to the outstanding graduating senior. Chris obtained his Masters of Law (in Taxation) from New York University School of Law in January, 1978.
Chris concentrates his practice in Probate and Fiduciary Litigation arising from estate and trust disputes as well as from Will contests. His expertise extends to estate planning (with an emphasis on tax ramifications), estate administration, guardianships, trusts, Probate, and business organizations. Continuously since 1984, Chris has been Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Estate Planning and Probate Law, as well as in Tax Law. Chris was recognized as a "Super Lawyer" in Super Lawyer Magazine by Law and Politics, Inc. in 2003 and 2005. He is an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University School of Law, teaching Estate and Gift Taxation for the last three years, as well as having previously taught Agency and Partnerships Law. Chris is a member of the State Bar of Texas and its Real Estate, Probate and Estate Planning Section and its Litigation Section. He is also a member of the San Antonio Bar Association; the American Bar Association; and the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is also a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the San Antonio Bar Foundation.
An avid (some might say, fanatically devoted) sports fan and collector of sports memorabilia, one of Chris' goals in life is to attend every major sporting event in the world, at least once, and he has made a good start. He has been a long-time San Antonio Missions and Spurs supporter as well as a Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Not one-dimensional, Chris also holds season tickets to Broadway Across America and collects cowboy art, Fiesta posters, German steins, and other objets de junque too numerous to mention. He lives in San Antonio with his wife Jan, a retired Massachusetts trial court judge. His daughter, Mo, is an attorney with the Firm and his son, Garrett, is the founder of the Garrett Heinrichs Band, a Texas country band working out of Ft. Worth.
